The Balcony Forward stateroom is one of the most popular cabin categories on Celebrity’s river cruise ships, offering a private balcony and a forward position on Deck 2 at a mid-range price point. With ten cabins across each ship, these staterooms give you open-air river views, a comfortable layout, and easy access to the Bar & Lounge at the bow of Deck 2.
Cabin Numbers and Location
Balcony Forward staterooms are on Deck 2 (Vista Deck) in the forward and midship sections: 201, 202, 203, 204, 209, 210, 211, 212, 217, and 218. On the interactive deck plan, they’re shown in magenta (#C22079). Odd numbers are port side; even numbers are starboard. Cabins 201–204 are the most forward (closest to the bow), while 209–212 and 217–218 are in the midship area.
Stateroom Size and Layout
Each Balcony Forward cabin measures approximately 170–190 square feet, featuring a king-size bed (convertible to twins), a sitting area, writing desk, full bathroom, flat-screen TV, and a private balcony with seating. The traditional balcony has a fixed glass railing and opens outward, giving you a dedicated outdoor space to enjoy the river views.
What’s Included
Balcony Forward is a stateroom category (not a suite), so amenities include the complimentary stocked minibar refreshed daily, premium bedding and linens, twice-daily housekeeping, flat-screen TV entertainment, and destination-inspired turndown. You’ll also enjoy all the standard Celebrity river cruise inclusions: daily shore excursions, all meals in the ship’s restaurants, select beverages, and complimentary WiFi. Butler service and priority excursion booking are reserved for suite categories.
Best Cabin Picks
Cabins 209–212 are the midship options in this category, offering the smoothest ride and least engine noise. 201–204 are closest to the Bar & Lounge, which is great for socializing but means slightly more foot traffic nearby. 217 and 218 sit between the Infinite Balcony cabins and the Balcony Aft section, offering a good balance of location and quiet.
How It Compares
The Balcony Forward is a step above the River View staterooms on Deck 1 (which have windows instead of balconies and sit at the waterline). It’s comparable to the Balcony Aft category in amenities and size — the main difference is position on the ship (forward vs. stern). The Infinite Balcony staterooms are a step up, adding the retractable glass wall feature.
